This is the official promotional poster for a music festival in the Phillipines. While I hadn't really thought too much about the design and the layout of the poster before, ever since learning InDesign and Illustrator, I've been more conscious of graphics like these. This includes posters like the one above, magazine editorials and other advertisements as well. I hadn't given much thought to this poster as I was just focusing on the bands which are going to be in the festival, but now that I've taken a closer look, I noticed some things in it which really bug me.

First of all, everything is clamped together. There is barely any empty space, especially at the bottom of the poster and that makes it look kind of messy, despite the fact that all the components are aligned as they should be. I think something that could be done to improve on this is to make all the words a little bit smaller. That way, it would be more pleasant to look at since there will be breaks between each word.

Another thing is the various font colours used for the different words. Some of the words do not contrast with the background, especially since the background is multi-colour and contains a lot of elements on its own. This is obvious, especially on the bottom left and bottom right of the posters. I think the background shouldn't be so abstract like it is in the poster so that the focus will be on the words.

Something I really like about this poster, though, is how they managed to make use of the various fonts in the band logos but still made it look nice. Normally, it is not advisable for there to be more than two or three fonts used in one picture, but the poster for this music festival has definitely made it work.
