It's almost summer in the Northern Hemisphere, which means Seventeen Magazine releases its summer issue! I've been an avid Seventeen reader since I was about ten or eleven, so obviously I grabbed the magazine as soon as I could. I decided to bring it (along with the previous month's Seventeen issue and Alternative Press) on holiday with me to read in the car and on the ferry, because what else can you do, besides reading, when there's no wifi? Like I said in my previous post, holiday equals lots and lots of pictures! I was feeling really summer-y after we checked into our suite at Redang. There was my magazine, there was my iPod, there were my sunglasses and most importantly, the white bed sheets!!!! Those make for a nice summer-looking photo :)
And then comes the actual
taking the photo part, and this is where EGD comes in handy:
I made use of white space (the white bed sheets) to emphasise on the components of the photograph: my sunglasses, my iPod & my magazine. Positioning was something I was very careful about. I had to rearrange everything quite a bit before I was happy with the outcome. In the end, as you can see in the photo, I decided to align the magazine with my iPod and I placed my sunglasses in the top corner diagonally, right above my iPod and the magazine. This achieves a type of balance, too, since all the components are actually centralised. After all the planning, it took me at least 10 shots before I got this one; it's not that simple taking a nice photo! (or maybe it's just me)
I posted this photo on Twitter (after all the effort I put in, why not?) and my friend replied me with "insta worthy" so I would say this was a job well done.
