Believe it or not, the picture above is the biggest inspiration behind my project idea for Assignment 2. The photo was probably taken using an iPhone camera, but it really caught my attention. Personally, if I had half a million dollars to spare, I would buy the car on the spot! (Even though I don't have a driver's license nor am I old enough to get one) Just by looking at this picture, I'm sold. The BEAUTIFUL steering wheel dominates the picture, and obviously the Mercedes Benz logo is something we all know is already very established at this point, which adds to the sleekness and sophistication this car just brings out.

So I'm sure you've guessed it by now; I will be doing an editorial for the Mercedes Benz G-class G 350 Bluetec. And before you assume I did all this research just for the assignment, the G-Wagen has been my dream car ever since I realised I would never be able to afford a Lamborghini Aventador in Singapore (ha ha). One of the main things that attracted me to this certain car is the interior of the car. Of course, the exterior of the car's pretty impressive too.

I did a survey with some of my classmates to aid me with my first sketch for my idea. I showed them two pictures: one of the interior of the car and another of it's exterior. I then asked them which picture captured their attention faster. Most of my classmates didn't hesitate to tell me that the interior of the car appealed more to them. This is how I ended up with this first sketch:

It's very clear from the scan I made of my rough sketch that I really cannot draw, but I think I've made the most important points pretty clear. It had been mentioned during this week's EGD tutorial that the page on the right, if the editorial appears in a magazine, is the one that should capture the reader's attention. This is because as we flip through the pages of a magazine, we flip it from the left to right, so we would always see the page on the right first. I also tried to make use of the gaze pattern in the golden rectangle to do my rough sketch.

My idea hasn't been completely developed yet, but I'm definitely going to be doing a lot more research to aid me in this assignment.
