This week's main topic for EGD - Adobe Photoshop! First off, we got to make use of the skills we learned after doing last week's e-learning tutorial. During the first tutorial yesterday, Ms Teh revised with us the basic tools of Photoshop, and then we were briefed on Assignment 2, where we are supposed to design our own print advertisement for an already existing product or company. We were shown the layout and "format" that should be kept in mind when designing an advertisement. My next post will depict the process I went through to come up with a suitable idea for my assignment, along with my final sketch.
During today's tutorial, we learned how to use even more of the magical Photoshop tools. The tools we learned to use today are more useful for editing people or removing
"flaws" and
"imperfections". Personally, I find Max Irons' (guy in the picture above
& model material) moles cute, but something I'm sure everyone knows is that most pictures out there nowadays, especially the ones in magazine editorials, are Photoshopped to make the models and celebrities look perfect. This is one of the main reasons why I chose to edit a photo of Max Irons from the red carpet; pictures like these are usually not edited yet.
Going back to the point, for this picture of Max, I removed the stubble from his neck and face, removed his moles and made his nose look less oily just by using one tool called the Healing Brush Tool. If you look closely, you will realise that there is hair on his neck in the 'Before' picture but not in the 'After' picture. After using the Healing Brush, I used Photoshop's Liquify option to make his eyes bigger and his smile wider. This is, in my opinion, the most obvious change I made to his face. After that, I made a selection on his tie using the Pen Tool, and made a new layer from that. I added a new layer picture of a floral pattern, and then created a clipping mask, which made his tie floral prints.
All in all, I've enjoyed this week's tutorials and I'm so excited to start on my 2nd individual assignment now that I've learned so much about Photoshop and Illustrator!
