The picture above is my latest addition to my advert. It took me about 2 hours during EGD to figure out all the details but I'm proud to say I managed it! For the car, I had gotten the picture from the G-Class PDF brochure on the Mercedes-Benz website. I then went on to use the Pen Tool on Photoshop to select the outline of the car, and then chose 'Make Selection' under Paths to select the outline. I deleted the background by selecting the inverse and just pressing delete. To make the layout a little "smoother" and the edges less jagged, I used the 'Refine Mask' option to make a smoother selection and then deleted the things outside of my selection. I saved the car with the transparent background as a PSD file and then imported it into my artboard on Illustrator.
On Illustrator, I firstly used the Pen Tool to form the outer white border of the car; this was quite simple as I just had to trace over the already present car picture and then use the Selection Tool to enlarge it. Then comes the most confusing part; making the white rays in the background. Firstly, I formed a black rectangle as big as the whole artboard to use as a base. I then changed the background to a gradient one, which ended up looking like this: (this is just the cropped version of my artboard)

After that, I had to figure out how to make the light rays which are supposed to 'shine' around the car. The purpose of this is to emphasise on the car. I managed to make the rays by making a small circle in the middle of the car, and playing around with it's Fill and Stroke layers. I made the Fill transparent and adjusted the Stroke according to what I wanted the 'light rays' to look like. The main thing to do to form light rays is make the Stroke a dashed line. For my final one, I made the weight 355pt and the dash 30pt each. I used a gradient (white to black) for the Stroke colour so that the edges would blend into the black background and changed it's opacity to 50%. After making the background, all I had to do was make the car and the car border visible again to achieve my end result!
So that was the process I went through to complete the car exterior part of my advert. Now, I have to figure out the font, the positioning and the details about the car I want to include in the advert.
