Music is something that we are all exposed to,
every single day. Personally, I can't go a day without listening to music. One of the key things that compel me to purchase certain albums I see, whether in CD stores or iTunes, is the album art. I discovered a band called Echosmith around October last year, while they were touring on the Vans Warped Tour. Somehow, just a glance the album art led me to purchase their album online on iTunes, and eventually a physical copy ordered from their online store, shipped all the way from the US. This just shows how appealing the album cover was to me.
First of all, I absolutely loved the colour scheme that was used to promote "Talking Dreams". Their whole 'brand' was standardised, so all of the band's social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr & their official site) were decorated using the same colours with common design concepts. Even the album's lyric booklet used the same colour theme. The colours are vibrant and attention grabbing, but not to the extent where they make the album cover look too flashy. Another thing I love is how simple the design actually is. It's somewhat symmetrical when an imaginary diagonal line is drawn in the center and the font sizes and styles used for the band name and the title of the album are of the right size and colour. There's a balance amongst the colours used too, in the sense that none of the colours used overshadow one another. All in all, this is definitely one of my most favourite album covers.
Here is the music video for the title track of the album, which makes use of colour filters that have a similar concept with the album artwork:
